Why a tilda added to verbs?

Why do some of the verbs get tildas?

se lo quiero comprar becomes comprárselo

and 

se lo estamos decorando becomes estamos decorándoselo

"tu espalda te va a dar" In this sentence, why is "tu espalda" used, whereas in one of the lessons, whereas in this lesson the definitive article is used. Using definite articles el, la, los, las in Spanish with bodyparts and clothing (Artículo definido)%252Fsearch%253Fs%253Dbody%2526model%253Dgrammar


Also, would "va a darte" also be correct?

Hola Inma,

I can’t work out why whether the information is already known to the parties concerned, that the subjunctive is used [in the pretérito imperfecto].

Also why using the pretérito indefinido would indicate that the information is new information.

In other words what is the logic behind this when forming the subjunctive? I completely get the idea of a hypothetical idea requiring the subjunctive, but the aspect of whether the information is already familiar to the people concerned, is confusing me. Saludos. John

Translation of 'Thus'


thus declaring itself the Republic of Paraguay in 1813

The bot offers two possibilities:

1  .. proclamando así  la República del Paraguay en 1813.

2  .. proclamándose de este modo la República del Paraguay en 1813.

I put ... proclamándose así la República del Paraguay en 1813. which was marked as an error.

Is there a difference in usage between  'así´ and  'de este modo'


Also, why is it la República del Paraguay  but  la República de Argentina ?

missing a word

Should violeta also be on this list?

and when I looked in a spanish  (does this have Cap) violet was also given.   This might be usual  mean not invariable.   Or maybe that was giving the meaning.   I think giving the meaning.  carro had car and cart

confusing lesson

I don't understand what the following excerpt from the lesson is supposed to mean:

Es + bueno [adjective]
Está + bien [adverb]


Can you please clarify what this means in prose rather than abreviated notation?

El origen del turrón

In the video, the second sentence sounded to me like ´los deportistas griegos..´ But in the text it says ´los deportistas ciegos´.  Since it talked about las Olimpiadas, would ´griegos´more likely be what the narrator said?
