"if you want a sweetie, eat your soup". lol, to me, sweetie is sweetheart, or some other affectionate term. Sweet = caramelo.
In one quiz answer it marked me wrong for choosing “Se llama [girl’s name],” saying I should have chosen “Ella se llama…” Then in the next quiz I chose “Él se llama” and it was marked wrong, saying I should have chosen “Se llama.” I’m confused, what is the difference?

I was reading along and halfway through it struck me that I was understanding every word easily. Wow! I was so pleased with my progress and then . . . I realized I was reading the Background segment which is in English!!! ¡Qué avergüenza!

And now, having read-along with the audio, and failed in trying to figure out where the text related to the audio, it's almost enough to make me grab a plane and head for Seville. Well, a little more vocab and I'll be hot to trot . . .
I thought that porque explained the cause of something whereas como presented a fact that the listener needed to know to understand what followed (but was not the cause). It I’m not sure if that rule works with the examples here? Am I missing something?
The European pronunciation is really weird-sounding. "Z" pronounced as "f," "c" pronounced as "th," and "vodka" sounded like "votha." And this is the first time I heard a "g" pronounced as it was in "ginebra." I guess I need to do more of these listening exercises! Or is it too much trouble to include a Latin American version?
