Gender of word

Although I understand this lesson, the quiz question "What is the gender of the word ____" seems to vague. My understanding is that, with living things, the gender of the word is determined by the gender of the person/animal etc it refers to. Therefore, without a pronoun or phrase to clarify, it seems to me the correct answer should be "don't know". Obviously, except in some very rare situations, "both" seems inaccurate. Would it be more "on point" to ask thequestion using a phrase?

Did I miss a lesson? I notice in some of the examples Unas is in front of describing what the person is wearing such as or buying Debo comprar unas camisetas verdes o
unas gafas elegantes.. and it does not translate, what is the rule

Aburrirse - CansarseHola Inma, Two questions: 1. I used "mientras estamos ocupados" for "while we are busy," and was marked incorrect. I may have misread it but the relevant lesson says that "mientras" is used with the present indicative to express "while," and that "mientras que (and mientras)," mean "as long as" in which case both would be followed by the subjunctive. In the Tip on the page it says that while is translated as mientras + El Presente. Is the english translation of 'while we are busy' incorrect in this exercise or is this an error - or is there some distinction I have missed? 2. Would cansarse be an acceptable alternative to aburrirse to describe "get bored." Saludos John

Explanation is ConfusingThis Preferir conjugation exercise says: "Notice how for all three groups, the first vowel -e- in the stem becomes -ie- except for the nosotros and vosotros forms."

Don't you mean the SECOND vowel changes to IE?

Missing "estar form" and "que"?

I am very confused by the English translation of the sentence "Os veo bastante triste." ("I can see that you are quite sad"). It seems to me quite a few words are missing in the Spanish. Can one also say, "Puedo ver que estáis bastante triste." Please help. I find that I am often confused as to when "que" must be used. And in this particular case, I'm also confused about the verbs.
