Would it be fair to say that in a negative situation you would not use gran?

So, it would not be un gran atasco, but un atasco grande? (a big traffic jam)

I find this concept a bit confusing and awkward.  "Las joyas estaban siendo robadas por el ladron."  I feel it should be simpler, "las joyas fueron robadas por el ladron."

¡Chicos, esto no es justo...otra vez! ;))  Hablando de cosas tan deliciosas...me encantan los pintxos y por supuesto me encanta el vino de Rioja.

Quiz question: "Si envías un correo hoy, probablemente ________ respuesta mañana." The conditional is apparently wrong here, but I don't think I understand why. Wouldn't it translate as "If you send a letter today, you would probably get a reply tomorrow."? 

Why is it: 

Esta oscuro, esta sol, esta hublado,esta nevando,

 but 

hace calor, hace frio,hace viento ?

________ todas las flores en jarrones de barro.

She had put all the flowers in clay vases.

Tenía puestas

Ha puesto

I got this right because I recognized the lesson it was from, but I don't understand why "ha puesto" would be wrong.
