RE: Chupachups (B2) Spanish writing exercise

Sentence:  and about 800 lollipops were produced a day.

Kwizbot: y se producían unos 800 chupachups al día.

Is there any other way this sentence could be constructed, and if so, what, and if not, why not? And what are the rules pertaining to this. 

I know that Spanish is pretty flexible, where I get tangled up, is where it’s not flexible in sentence structure.  i.e. what things are “verboten”?  Thank you, I appreciate any help in this area.

"El viernes tocamos la guitarra," but "Mi padre come pescado LOS viernes".

I can't see the difference here?

I’m not very clear how “lo que” and “que” are different in the context of surprise declarations ….?

When is a noun regular and when is it irregular?

Nouns that end with an -o or -a are regular and everything else is irregular?

If it is dependent on the speaker then how do you test students if they understand it? 

Small point here. Lesson states " Faltar a un lugar means not to assist" . 

To assist in English translates to AYUDAR.

Should read FALTAR A UN LUGAR means not to be present. or not to attend, in this context.

Me alegra que ellos sean los primeros. 

Why is this subjunctive? Is it because it comes after "que"? This sentence doesn't seem to express any doubt about their being the first. 

Could I say "me alegra que ser el primero?" if I were talking about myself or would I have to write "me alegra que yo sea el primero"?
