Hi,
Is this form the same as ponerse a hacer algo - as both lessons mention the inferred spontaneity in the decision.
For example could we say, 'me puse a limpiar la cocina ayer' and 'me dio por limpiar la cocina ayer' have the same meaning?

In one of my kwizzes, I got this one wrong. The correct choice was están for this sentence: "Mi padre están en el hospital" I chose está. Why is it wrong? Is it because está would be too informal when referring to parents? Or is this padre referring to a priest or something?
I think trifle is British English. Can someone tell me what it means in American English?
en lugar de: "Mar Azul se convirtió en un símbolo de superación..."?

Re my question below is les incorrect because ver is intransitive?
if the main clause is in future tense, do we use subjunctive too?
Estudiaré más dúro para que mis padres me traigan al extranjero
I will study harder so that my parents will bring me overseas
In practice, are these alternatives used to the same extent as eachother? Is there a regional tendency to use one or the other?
Voy para la casa de mi amigo. Is the use of para in this case particular to Spain? IN Mexico and New Mexico(where I live) I'm pretty sure the sentence would use the prepossition "a" as in Voy a la piscina.
I assume in the example above salir, the infinitive is not used with después because después is being used as adjective not as a proposition?
