Why is ellas used with the masculine object, los bolsos?

I've been reading a book in print and they have "este" (no accent) as the demonstrative adjective and "éste" (accent) as the demonstrative pronoun:

esta casa (adj.)
ésta es mi casa (pron.)

But I don't see that in this lesson. Is it out of date/RAE stuff or is it only included when ambiguous and my book is being overzealous?

Also, there was a really cool little fact in the book that said that "aquél" and "éste" are used in the same way that "former" and "latter" are in English. I'm still confused as to whether the accent is necessary or optional for pronouns, however.

This seems like a useful phrase! A few questions...

• How common is it in Spanish? 

• I guess we could just as easily use nouns like 'fracaso', 'dificultad' etc?

• It's similar to 'meet with success' in English of course, but would it be totally wrong to use 'con' in Spanish? 

• And, does the noun usually carry the article? (conoce el éxito)

I am struggling with identifying indirect interrogative sentences in spanish. For example, what makes "Cristina no sabe dónde todavía  va a celebrar su cumpleaños" an indirect interrogative sentence, but not "Viajaremos adonde nos recomiende el agente de viajes. Can you explain this please or refer me to a lesson that does? Thanks.

Why is the answer "Debo enviar" wrong for this question ________ el enlace incorrecto.  I have probably sent the wrong link.  (HINT: Express strong assumption/supposition).  If I have understood the lesson correctly "deber + infiinitive" is used for obligation but is also accepted as a strong assumption.
