Ellos no _la dejaban_______ pasar. They wouldn't let her through.
why does "a tan solo 2 minutos de empezar" mean "2 minutes before starting" but "a los 2 minutos de empezar" mean "2 minutes after starting"?.. why does the meaning change because of an added word?

cerca (de)
adelante (de)
arriba (de)

My two-part question is whether, in the circumstances depicted in the piece, the simple future tense and/or the present tense could be used to express the future and under what circumstances each of the three choices is either indicated or preferred.
Muchas gracias de antemano.
Regardless of gender, would you always use un when talking of self? For instance, Soy un cocinera mala.
A sentence in the quiz for this lesson says, "Me ofrecieron trabajo...." Should be "Me ofrecieron un trabajo."

Uh no. So in one lesson you guys said calor was feminine. Even though in three years of Spanish I've always only seen it as masculine. But in fact it can be either according to the RAE. Now in this lesson I marked it as feminine and you guys say I'm wrong. So you guys need to fix this answer or at least be consistent.
