How to use olvidar/olvidarse with people?

When talking about forgetting things, these two forms are given:

- olvidar [algo]

- olvidarse" [de algo]

But what about forgetting someone?

Are these two forms then still correct?

Hola David

Yes, you can also use olvidar and olvidarse de "alguien" the same way, although we need the personal "a" when using olvidar (non-pronominal) with a direct object as a person, for example:

He olvidado a Juan.

Me he olvidado de Juan.

I see,

So when we use olvidar with things we don't have to use the "a", but when we use olvidar with people we do have to use the "a".

With olvidarse we can refer to people and things but we don't have to use the "a".

Is this correct?

I'll just mention that with "Olvidó a Juán", Juán is the direct object, and requires the "personal a".

For "Se me olvidó Juán," Juán is the subject, so we don't use the "personal a".

So David was correct.
