Hi Miles,
'Bendecir la mesa' literally means 'to bless the table', I guess- 'to bless the table 'of food' but in it's non-literal sense it means 'to say grace'.
So, the sentence here...
Él bendice la mesa...= he says grace...
Oh and bendecir is to bless.
