I used comenzar for start but it was corrected to empezar. What is the difference in the usage of the two verbs?

My memory is poor and when writing in the listening exercises I really need to hear the dictation twice in most sections. It seems we can only listen once to each section?

I'm not sure if i like this new format... not sure if it's my computer or an update on your end, but any time i select an answer (even if i try clicking outside of it), it's saying that the questions is unanswered... i don't understand why it's not accepting my answers when I am selecting them.. it's BEYOND frustrating. 

The lesson says that gustaría is only used in the third person singular. However, what if the things that would be liked are nouns, not verbs. Wouldn’t the plural be used to reflect this, as an example “nos gustarían unas cervezas” - we would like some beers?

Seems like I have seen hacer used in sentences like this. For example.  El hizo re hipotecar la casa.  Is this correct? Possible?

It seems as if porque would convey the same idea and is probably more often used in conversation.  So is de tanto more formal, literary or is it used in the street?
