How much/so much with "cuánto"
To express surprise at how much of something there is in Spanish we use cuánto, cuánta, cuántos, cuántas in front of the noun, in the same way as in interrogative sentences.
Have a look at the following examples:
¡Cuánto pollo hemos comido! We ate so much chicken! [lit: how much chicken we ate!]
¡Cuánta cerveza hay en la nevera! How much beer there is in the fridge!
¡Cuántos nietos tiene Luisa!Luisa has so many grandchildren! [lit: How many grandchildren Luisa has!]
¡Cuántas curvas hay en esta carretera! How many bends there are in this road!
Notice how cuánto agrees in gender and number with the noun it modifies.
