Tu amiga es un poco _____ (insert correct form of picarón)

Hello Kwiziq team,

As always I love your content but had a query about this particular question...

I did get the correct answer to this question (picaróna); however i was wondering why it isn’t “una poca” instead of “un poco” when the friend you’re talking about is feminine (as it’s amiga not amigo).

Here’s the question:

Tu amiga es un poco ________. Your friend is a bit mischievous.HINT: "picarón" = masculine for mischievous
Thank you in advance! Fran

Hola Francis,

in this sentence, "Tu amiga es un poco picarona", un poco is an adverb, not an adjective. As an adverb, it is invariable.

It is different when poco/poca are adjectives, like in these other sentences:

"Tengo poco tiempo" (I have [very] little time)

"Aquí hay pocas casas." (Here there are [very] few houses)

Here, as adjectives, they need agreement with the noun.

Here is a lesson that will help you.

Saludos

To add to Inma’s reply/example, I think a person would say “Aquí hay pocas casas pero son un poco más grandes que las de allá”. Translate: There are few houses here but they are a little bigger than those over there.
