Is the choice based on noun agreement?
The sentence that is throwing me is:
¿Para quién has comprado esas flores tan bonitas?
Who have you bought such pretty flowers for?
¡Gracias!,

Hola Stuart
Do you refer to agreement between flores and bonitas? Yes, it needs agreement: feminine plural noun (flores) and feminine plural adjective (bonitas).

I think Stuart is asking when to use quiénes.
As it says in the lesson,
Remember that unlike in English, in Spanish the word who has a singular and a plural form: quién and quiénes.
If that's not clear, quién refers to one person, quiénes to multiple people. It's not about noun agreement. The sentence could have used quiénes if you had some reason for thinking the flowers were for more than one person.
Oh! Sorry, I wasn't sure what Stuart meant. Exactly as Alan said!
