Using the Spanish perfect future to talk about completed actions in the future with reference to another future action (El Futuro Perfecto)

El Futuro Perfecto in Spanish for assumptions

We use El Futuro Perfecto to make an assumption about an action that will have finished in relation to another future action. We need to include a future time phrase so that this is evident.

Have a look at this example:
Son las 2. Para las 4 habré terminado mis deberes. It is 2 o'clock. By 4 I will have finished my homework.

We can see a future reference (by 4) and then a completed action that will have happened before/by that timeframe. That completed action is expressed with El Futuro Perfecto.

Sometimes the future reference is expressed in an earlier sentence about an action that occurs before the action expressed with El Futuro Perfecto, for example:

Yo comeré a las dos pero tú habrás comido a la una.I will eat at two but you will have eaten at one.

Cristina se preparará para la boda y yo la habré ayudado a vestirse.Cristina will get ready for the wedding and I will have helped her get dressed.

Here are other examples:

Antes de empezar la clase, ella habrá colgado los dibujos de los niños en la pared. Before she starts the class, she will have hung the children's drawings on the wall.

Cuando llegue Luis ya habremos comido todos. When Luis arrives we will all have eaten.

Mi jefe llamará a mediodía y yo le habré informado de las novedades. My boss will ring at midday and I will have informed him about the news.

It is very common to find time phrases of this type when using El Futuro Perfecto:

Para mañana, ...

Cuando + present subjunctive, ...

Para entonces, ...

A las diez, ...
