Spanish Affirmative Form
Affirmative describes a statement that uses a grammatically positive construction (as opposed to negative).
An affirmative statement (or declarative statement) expresses a fact or provides information.
For example:
La casa es grande.
The house is big.
Yo soy profesor.
I am a teacher.
Yo hablo español.
I speak Spanish.
Ellos leen muchos libros.
They read lots of books.
Note: The term "positive" refers to the grammatical construction, not the meaning of the sentence.
Questions (interrogative statements) and commands (imperative statements) can also be affirmative:
¿Está respondiendo?
Is he answering?
¡Responde!
