Interrogative adverbs
In Spanish there are interrogative adverbs, as well as in English, which introduce a question. They are invariable words.
The most common interrogative adverbs are:
Cómo = How/ What
¿Cómo estás? (How are you?)
¿Cómo te llamas? (What is your name?)
Cuándo = When
¿Cuándo vas al aeropuerto? (When are you going to the airport?)
Por qué = Why
¿Por qué tengo yo que cocinar siempre? (Why do I have to cook all the time?)
Dónde = Where
¿Dónde nos vemos esta noche? (Where shall we meet tonight?)
Cuánto = How much
¿Cuánto le debo? (How much do I owe you?)
They are also used in indirect interrogative questions:
-No sé dónde vive Clara. (I don't know where Clara lives.)
-No entiendo cómo ha pasado esto. (I don't understand how this happened.)
