Concordancia

In Spanish we talk about agreement (concordancia) when words change to according to gender and number of another word.

For example, adjectives will 'agree with' the nouns they are modifying. At the same time, the articles also agree with the nouns they are refering to. See some examples:

El perro pequeño.
The small dog.
La niña bonita.
The pretty girl.
Los  perros pequeños.
The small dogs.
Las niñas bonitas.
The pretty girls.
This is something that English speakers find difficult to maintain in their practice as they don't need agreement as much as we do in Spanish.

Agreement also happens in verbs when we conjugate. The verb will need to agree with the subject of the sentence. For example:
Yo trabajo en un supermercado.
I work in a supermarket.
Ella trabaja en un supermercado.
She works in a supermarket.
Nosotros trabajamos en un supermercado.
We work in a supermarket.
