When to use female or masc. Nationalities

Nosotras vivimos en Dublín pero somos ________. We live in Dublin but we are Portuguese.(HINT: portugués = singular for Portuguese
Why is the answer portugesas, which isfemale?

Hola Jackie

You can see at the beginning of the sentence that it is referring to "we" in feminine: Nosotras vivimos..., so you then need "portuguesas".

I agree there is no clue to the gender therefore we should use the masculine. WE could be a couple so use masculine

The subject is saying "Nosotras... (using the feminine plural)
