In this context, pasos refers to the floats used in religious processions, especially during Easter (Semana Santa) in Spain. These are large platforms that carry statues and are often very ornate, hence “muy bonitos”.

So here pasos doesn’t mean “steps”, but rather these ceremonial floats.
