Use of que with mismo

It is not clear when to use qué after mismo. For e.g.

Andrea lleva la misma camisa que llevaba ayer.

Vs.

No me cuentes de nuevo la misma historia.

Hola Dhruv,

the use of "que" is only used when we are doing a comparison. In this sentence:

Andrea lleva la misma camisa que llevaba ayer.

Andrea is wearing the same shirt that she was wearing yesterday.

In the second one:

No me cuentes de nuevo la misma historia.

Don't tell me the same story again.

Here we are not making any comparison.

The use of "que" goes with the type of sentence you make. It is common to find que in sentences with "el mismo, la misma..." because they are used many times to "compare", i.e. "the same [something] as/that ..."

But we don't always make comparisons with "the same". In these cases there is no need to use "que".

Saludos,

Inma
