Yes, absolutely. It is all in the present tense in this lesson because it is an A1 lesson.

You can also say for example (still expressing obligation):

Ayer tuve que pagar una multa.

Yesterday I had to pay a fine.

Mañana tendremos que salir temprano.

Tomorrow we will have to leave early.

Hemos tenido que hablar con nuestro jefe.

We had to speak with our boss.
