Tal vez + encontrar

Hola!

I'm new and finding this really useful, but I was wondering about this:

Tal vez ________ cervezas en el frigorífico. (encontrar)

The answer is meant to be encuentres - but I thought that with e.g. tal vez / quizás you could use either encuentres or encuentras, I think I'm missing something but I'm not sure what! Do you know where I'm going wrong?

Thank you!

Hola Ciaran P.

You're not missing anything. With tal vez, quizá and quizás, both the indicative and the subjunctive are generally possible.

In this exercise we were specifically practising the present subjunctive, so encuentres was the expected answer. However, encuentras is also grammatically correct in this context; it simply expresses the idea with a slightly different nuance.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Silvia
