Hola Horace

In English you say "avoid spreading false information", using the gerund "spreading" while in Spanish we use the infinitive form after another verb when it's the direct object of that first verb, hence "evitar propagar información falsa". Here are other sentences with different verbs:

Decidió dejar de fumar.

He decided to quit smoking.

Quiero bailar contigo.

I want to dance with you.

Le propuse cenar en otro restaurante.

I suggested having dinner at another restaurant.

Odio levantarme temprano.

I hate getting up early.

I hope this clarified it.

Un saludo cordial y buen fin de semana.

Inma
