No ________ das cuenta de lo que pasa. Question from A1

In the above question why is tù te marked wrong? I thought the use of pronouns was optional in Spanish.

The reason why the pronoun  is not accepted in this case is because it is a negative sentence and it has "No" already infront. In this case you can't say "No tú te das cuenta..."

If this had been an affirmative sentence, then it's absolutely fine to say "Tú te das cuenta..."
