Masculine vs Feminine

Masculine vs Feminine

Lesson = Me gusta viajar en tren.  Why not gusto?  I like = gusto, right?  Also, pretty much the same question for the use of cuesta, not cuesto in this lesson. Aren't they referring to the (masculine) ticket (el billete)?  I have a feeling I am missing something covered in our lessons!

(As always, thank you for your help)

Hola Terry

The endings that you see in the verb conjugations aren't related to masculine or feminine (that is for nouns and adjectives) - and the verb gustar is a bit different to the other "normal" verbs.

With gustar, the subject in the sentence is "what you like / what you like doing", in this case "viajar", and the verb gustar in the present tense has the ending for the 3rd person singular: -a. the verb "costar" works the same way as gustar.

But here's a lesson that explains it all:

gustar

verbs like gustar

I hope it's helpful.

Saludos
