Llamas vs. llama and formality

Why is there an "s" when asking "Como te llamas?" but not for "Como se llama usted?" I understand that usted is formal, but why the change in llama(s)?

Hola Stefan,

when we use the formal "usted", the verb is conjugated in the 3rd person singular, as in he/she, and it doesn't take the -s at the end.

Saludos,

Inma

¿Como te llamas? This is because TE is informal so the verb will be informal Llamas.

Me llamo...me

Te llamas ... you informal

Se llama.... you formal

Hope this help.
