Is it incorrect to not use the contraction in Spanish. Whereas, in English, it is NOT incorrect to not use the contraction. For example, "do not" is as acceptable as "don't." Is "a el" acceptable, or incorrect? Thank you.

Is the contraction necessary?
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Al and Del in Spanish"

Hola Debbie
In Spanish it would be incorrect to not use the contraction, so a+el is always "al" and de+el is always "del", except for a noun that uses the article as part of its name, e.g. El Escorial: "Fui a El Escorial con mi familia el sábado pasado."
