Hi - I believe "there will be many people" should be conjugated as singular since people is singular, no?

Gente - singlular /hay
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Conjugate irregular verb haber in the simple future in Spanish (El Futuro Simple/Imperfecto)"
Asked 1 month ago
Hola Gina D.
Yes, gente is grammatically singular. However, with haber meaning “there is/are”, the verb is impersonal and always used in the third-person singular, regardless of what follows.
So “Habrá mucha gente” = “There will be many people”.
The singular form habrá is therefore correct.
Saludos
Silvia
