In the exercise we are asked to translate: "Also, they would teach them a new language and accompany them in their daily games." The answer given is "También, les enseñaría un idioma nuevo y los acompañaría en sus juegos diarios." but this should be enseñarían.
The problem seems to be that the hint in the exercise doesn't match the actual text: "También, el robot les enseñaría un idioma nuevo y los acompañaría en sus juegos diarios."

I think Alan is right about the subject becoming plural. When I did the exercise the English text said "the robot would teach them a new language, and they would accompany them in their daily games." Shouldn't this read "it would accompany them."

I checked this but the English text is saying "Also, the robot would teach them a new language". There is no "they". If the subject was "they" it would have to say "enseñarían" but the subject is singular "el robot".

Yes graeme, it suddenly went plural, and adding in that I can't for the life of me work out who is the subject of the verb "accompany" in english, it was a tough part of the exercise :-)

yes you are right! I didn't realise before that the subject is "el robot" in the first sentence and then it is "they" in the second. It is now been corrected to "it" so it is absolutely clear that you need the singular.
