Difference between trajito/trajecito or pueblito/pueblecito for example

Hiya,

It seems to me that you can use ito/ecito fairly interchangeably...can you explain whether there is a difference? I believe ecito is more common in Spain than Latin America?

Thanks :) Nat

Hola Nat,

sometimes the diminutive used for a specific word varies depending on the region or the country. In this lesson we considered what the general rule is in Spain. You are right, you may hear "pueblito" more than "pueblecito" in Latin America. Also, the most common diminutive is -ito/-ita, but depending on the area in Spain you may find that -ico/-ica is preferred, or even -ino/-ina; so you may also here "un pueblico", "un pueblino"...

Saludos

Inma
