Demasiada/demasiadas with many

En mi oficina hay __________ gente.

There are too many people in my office.

Why is demasiada the correct answer and not demasiadas? Since we're using many in the English sentence.

Thank you.

Hola lliass,

In Spanish the word "gente" is used in singular, unlike in English, which is used in plural:

La gente es... (not son)

People are... (not is)

So when it is accompanied by an adjective, the adjective needs to agree with the noun, so:

Demasiada gente

Too many people

I hope this clarified it.

Saludos,

Inma
