I thought there was supposed to be an article for the things we like except for people or places. Example says "Le gusta comer pescado." Inspead of Le gusta comer el pescado.

Articles for Gustar
Hola Theresa
You always need the article when when you're saying is that you like/don't like "something":
Me gusta el pescado, me gustan los plátanos, no me gusta el queso...
But if you say you like/don't like "doing something", then you don't necessarily use an article, it depends on the sentence:
Me gusta ver películas de terror.
No me gusta bailar salsa.
In these cases you may find the articles if you are a bit more specific about the thing. For example, you can also say "me gusta ver las películas de terror que ponen los sábados en la tele." (you're been for specific about the films.)
Or you could also say "no me gusta bailar la salsa cubana, prefiero la salsa venezolana." - again, you're being more specific here.
But for general concepts you don't need it.
I hope this clarified it.
Saludos
