I just reviewed the A1 lesson on veces/vez in which "sometimes" equals "algunas veces," but in examples above, "sometimes" equals "a veces." Is there a difference? Is "a veces" simply a more convenient way of saying "algunas veces?" Thank you.

Hi William,
I would say that they are synonymous. Perhaps "algunas veces" refers to things that occur less frequently, i.e. 'a few times' rather than "a veces"= sometimes or at times. Yes, I think they're interchangeable. Hopefully Inma can confirm. You can also use "de vez en cuando" for sometimes. 😊

Hola William
Yes, as Clara said, they are interchangeable. I can't really think of any specific nuance that one or the other have. I personally use "algunas veces" more naturally than "a veces" but it's all down to personal choice.
Saludos
