a vs. ir a

Why is vamos a la biblioteca correct, and vamos a Cordoba is not?  {The correction says I should say vamos IR A Cordoba.

Hola V

I checked your answer on this test-question about Córdoba and I think you misread the feedback. The result page is showing that you typed "Vamos IR A Córdoba" which is not correct because it's got the "a" that you need before the destination "a Córdoba" but you missed the "a" that goes between the two verbs "vamos a ir a Córdoba". We were only expecting the "a" as in "Vamos a Córdoba", but if you want to use the near future "vamos a ir a Córdoba" you need that other "a" too. Here's a lesson on how to form the near future so you can see that with more detail. I hope it clarified it.

Saludos
