Mis zapatos están muy sucios.I thought estar was used with a location. Why isn't ser used here?

Hoy tengo mucho sueñoIn the quiz I chose 'Hoy tengo muy sueño,' because sueño is not a noun and 'very sleepy' seemed much like 'very often.' Why is muy incorrect here?

Just add sWould it be simpler to say that the plural just adds 's' to the regular masculine or feminine forms??

Where can I learn more about when to use Había and when to use Hubo?I know había is imperfecto and hubo is pretérito, but in this context it seems not always applicable. Is there a clear distinction?

What about the ¨-yendo¨ ending? Am I wrong, when I was studying Spanish in high school, I clearly remember there being -yendo so there are not so many vowels next to each other. Caer -- Cayendo / Creer -- Creyendo / Leer -- Leyendo and so on and so forth. Is that not correct?
