Surnames in Spanish don't turn into plurals

Learn about Spanish surnames

Unlike in English, in Spanish you do not convert surnames into a plural form when we refer to a family by their surname, for example "the Smiths", "the Rogers". The article is pluralised but not the surname. For example:

Los GarcíaThe Garcías

Los RomeroThe Romeros

Los SmithThe Smiths

Hoy vamos a ver a los Wyatt.We are going to see the Wyatts.

Always use the masculine plural article "los" and do not add an -s or -es to the surnames to make them plural. This is incorrect:

Hoy visitamos a los Garcías.
