We gave the boys some sandwiches.

In an A2 test the answer to "We gave the boys some sandwiches." was "nosotros dimos a los niños unos bocadillos".

I´m still learning indirect object pronouns, why doesn't this have "les" before dimos?

as Marsha said, you could have also said "Nosotros les dimos a los niños unos bocadillos"; the use of the indirect object pronoun is emphatic - here is a lesson about repetition of object pronouns. Have a look.

You could use the indirect pronoun in the sentence as well as the a los niños part and the sentence would also be correct.
