Example given: Maria pidío dinero a Manuel - Maria asked Manuel for money. Why isn’t it Maria pidío dinero de Manuel? Would this way of saying it be acceptable?

Using Pedir in the Pretérito indefinido
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Conjugate stem-changing verb pedir in the preterite tense in Spanish (El Pretérito Indefinido)"
Asked 3 days ago
Hola Fran J.
With pedir, when we say who we are asking something from, Spanish normally uses a:
María pidió dinero a Manuel = María asked Manuel for money
Pedir algo de alguien is not the usual construction for this meaning, so María pidió dinero de Manuel would not sound natural here.
I hope this helps!
