Using future vs subjunctive

"Sospechamos que María volverá con él" was the correct answer. Can you also use present subjunctive, "Sospechamos que María vuelva con él"?

Hola Julia

Yes, you could also use the present subjunctive after "Sospechamos que...." if what the speaker's intention is to express uncertainty/ hesitancy about what they're saying. Otherwise, this "sospechamos que..." using the indicative, will be taken more as a "Creemos que..., Pensamos que...".

Saludos cordiales
