Use of infinitive after 'como'

Use of infinitive after 'como'

'such as using renewable energy'

I put 'como usar la energia renovable' but was marked as incorrect with the correct option being 'como el uso de.. '

When ( if at all ) can I use an infinitive after como?

Gracias

Hola David L.

Thanks for your question. Your version como usar la energía renovable is also a valid structure in Spanish, and we’ve now added it as an accepted answer in the exercise.

In the original correction, the model answer used a noun phrase (como el uso de…) simply because, in this context, it sounded more natural stylistically. But using como + infinitivo is perfectly correct when you want to express “such as doing X / like doing X,” so your option should indeed be allowed.

Thanks for pointing this out — and well done for noticing the nuance.

Hasta pronto

Silvia
