toda vs todo

The suitcase was very small and I couldn't put everything in it. : La maleta era muy pequeña y no pude poner ___ en ella.en ella.

How is the answer to this "todo" if the noun "la maleta" is feminine?

Hola Alyssa,

in this sentence, "todo" is not referring to "maleta", it is referring to "everything", which is something seen as "neutral", therefore we need "todo" not "toda". It is as if we said:

The suitcase was very small and I couldn't put "all the things I had" in it.

La maleta era muy pequeña y no pude poner todo en ella.en ella.

I hope this clarified it.

Saludos
