Is "Todos mis amigos hacen las compras aquí" a possible alternative to "Todos mis amigos compran aquí"?

You could also say "hacen las compras", but this is more commonly used for doing grocery shopping/daily shopping. If we are talking about "El Corte Inglés", which is more like a big store/shopping centre, we'd use comprar en ...
