In this exercise, what exactly is the reason to prefer "libros buenos" rather than "buenos libros"?

Positioning the adjectives in front of the nouns is generally a way of emphasising that quality to the noun they refer to. In this case, you could have said "buenos libros" here as well if that is the intention. I added that different order to the exercise as it's also correct.
