subjunctive versus future perfect

In this question: "Espero que el fotógrafo ________ bastantes fotos al final de la boda." I used "habrá hecho"...  can you give a translation of the above sentence using haya hecho vs. habrá hecho? I don't really get the difference.

Hola Wendy

With esperar que... you always need the subjunctive:

Espero que hagas muchas fotos.

I  hope you take lots of pictures.

Esperaba que ella hiciera muchas fotos.

I hoped she took lots of pictures.

Espero que el fotógrafo haya hecho muchas fotos.

I hope the photographer has taken lots of pictures.

So, when you "hope that... something happens, has happened, etc" the "happening" needs the verb in the subjunctive, hence the use of "que haya hecho..." in this sentence.

For a "hope that..." you can't use the perfect future "will have taken" (habrá hecho) here.

You can use it for example in other scenarios:

Imagino que el fotógrafo habrá hecho muchas fotos.

I guess the photographer has taken lots of pictures.

¿Habrá hecho el fotógrafo muchas fotos?

I wonder if the photographer has taken lots of pictures.

Al final de la ceremonia, el fotógrafo habrá hecho muchas fotos.

By the end of the ceremony, the photographer will have taken lots of pictures.

Here's some information about the perfect future in Spanish with some lessons related to this tense so you can see different examples and uses.

I hope it clarified it.

Saludos cordiales

Inma
