Interesting that réir in the vosotros form is riais, without an accent, but sonréir in the vosotros form is sonriáis, which has an accent! This difference is not mentioned in this lesson.
réir vs sonréir in the vosotros form are different?

réir vs sonréir in the vosotros form are different?
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Conjugate e > i verbs in the present subjunctive in Spanish (El Presente de Subjuntivo)"
Asked 8 months ago
Hola Mark
This is because rias is only syllable and it doesn't take the accent in that case but sonriáis is formed by two syllables and in this case you need the written accent: son - riáis
As it is a general lesson on e > i verbs, not just about "reír/sonreír", there is no mention of the accent. However, here's an article about written accents in Spanish, and the triphthongs are mentioned by the end. I hope it's helpful.
Saludos cordiales
