Reflexive verbs

My sentence:

Las chicas se sintieron mucho frio en esa casa grande

was corrected to:

Las chicas sintieron mucho frio en esa casa grande.

But isn’t sentir a reflexive verb in Spanish? Reflexive verbs are not very common in English.,

Google translate has:

I feel cold (English) – Me siento frio (Español) – Jeg føler mig kold (Danish, my language, which uses reflexion very much like Spanish)

Please explain!

We use the reflexive sentirse when using adjectives and adverbs and the non reflexive sentir with nouns. There is a lesson which fully explains this - Sentir vs Sentirse (to feel)

Hola Ole

Here is a Kwiziq lesson on the difference between sentir and sentirse.

To say I feel cold you need "Siento frío" or the more commonly used "Tengo frío" (I am cold)

I wouldn't trust google translations all the time...

Saludos
