«¿Qué es eso?»

Hello!

In the example, ¿"Una iglesia"? ¿Qué es eso?, why is it eso and not esa?

Hola Melvin

In this sentence, we use "eso" as in meaning "that thing", so even though we are mentioning something that is feminine (la iglesia), the person who asks is saying "What is that thing? using it in a neutral way.

Saludos
