"Que" en lugar de "porque"
Do Spaniards use this because it's quicker and 'neater' to say? So that they can get their meaning across even more rapidly!!
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Using que to express cause in Spanish"

Hola Alan,
That is a good question! To be honest, I don't think that is the reason. It is simply one of the many uses of "que" in Spanish. You could also use "como" with the same function (=porque). See this example: "Como ha ganado mucho dinero, va a comprarse un coche nuevo" (Because he won a lot of money, he is buying a new car.)
Un saludo
