It seems like all previously accented words, such as lámpara, pájaro drop the accent, so that pronunciation is on the penultimate syllable - pajarito, lamparita?
Is that the case and are there any exceptions?
that's right, when using the suffix the original accent disappears.
I can't think of any exceptions. They all drop the accent. All words using this suffix will be stressed on the penultimate syllable (no tilde needed)
